The #iditarod2022 is coming up. A pointless 1000 mile race over treacherous, icy tundra. #Dogs are carefully selected, prepared, and forced to train in harsh weather from the moment they are born. Most injuries and deaths aren’t even reported, so it’s unclear exactly how many dogs are harmed during breeding and training for the event. Over 150 dogs have died excruciating deaths due to numerous different ailments caused by forcing them to run… Pneumonia,
broken bones and limbs, exhaustion, suffocation, ulcers from intense stress, neglect, physical abuse, and more. Many of the causes of these deaths were also kept secret, and were never revealed. The truth is, many dogs are subjected to constant abuse, or, just like race horses, are even purposely killed because they are not seen as fit, or good enough to win.
